INSME - International Network for SMEs
INSME is a non-profit Association open to national and international SME-related organisations. Its mission is to stimulate transnational cooperation and public and private partnership in the field of innovation and technology transfer to SMEs.
INSME was formally constituted in February 2004 as one outcome of the EU Ministers Meeting in Bologna. It is administered by IPI, the Italian Institute for Industrial Promotion, which is funded by the Italian ISBA.
Institute of Business Advisers
The IBA is a non profit making professional Institute for business advisers, business mentors, business trainers and all business support professionals who give advice and assistance to small and medium sized businesses.
IBA Members can be found in most Business Links, Training & Enterprise Councils, Enterprise Agencies and similar business support organisations throughout the UK.
National Council for Graduate Entrepreneurship (NCGE)
The NCGE was formed in 2004 with the aim of raising the profile of entrepreneurship and the option of starting your own business as a career choice amongst students and graduates.
By understanding the circumstances in which graduate entrepreneurship can flourish, NCGE's goal is to influence, and inspire, an increase in the number of students and graduates who give serious thought to self-employment or business start-up. The Council, which is based in Birmingham (UK)is not only focused on graduates starting businesses, but understanding, developing and promoting a culture of entrepreneurship within Higher Education through research, education and facilitation. NCGE aims to become the national focal point for graduate entrepreneurship and collaborates with bodies across the UK.

Small Business Research Portal
This portal has been designed to provide links to internet sites that will be helpful to fellow small business researchers, policy-makers and support agencies. It will be maintained to ensure that the links are still valid and extra features will be added on a continuous basis. The objective is to make this site the definitive portal for small business research.
The portal has been designed to be easy and quick to use. Unnecessary graphics and other features that slow down response rates have been avoided. A straightforward menu structure has been adopted to aid navigation.

The Small Business Service (SBS) is an agency of the Department of Trade and Industry. We have a simple vision - we want the UK to be the best place in the world to start and grow a business. We are working with the rest of government to deliver this vision. We aim to:
* Champion a culture that prizes and fosters enterprise, and help businesses start and develop as their capabilities grow.
* Make sure that government support services (including access to finance) are accessible, relevant and of high quality.
* Make special efforts to release the enterprise of ethnic minority groups, women entrepreneurs and others who have such potential to contribute to UK business.
We also operate a national help line for businesses.

Small Enterprise Research Team (SERTeam)
SERTeam is an independent, non-profit charitable association hosted at the Open University Business School and dedicated to:
* conducting and publishing entrepreneurship and small business research
* improving understanding of key enterprise issues
* working with and supporting other small business organisations
SERTeam conducts Britain’s longest running and best established small business survey with each quarters findings published as the NatWest/SERTeam Quarterly Survey of Small Business in Britain. In addition, SERTeam publishes a three-times a year Small Enterprise Research Report, sponsored by LloydsTSB Bank as well as a number of ad hoc research based studies.
Small Firms Enterprise Development Initiative (SFEDI)
We will increase the ability of the self employed and owners of small businesses (and their staff) to start up, survive and thrive. This is through awareness of enterprise as a positive career choice, access to improved learning assistance and the highest standards of small business support.
We believe that all small businesses in the UK have a right to high quality and value for money learning and skills development support.
We are ISBA-recognised to research and disseminate what works best for small businesses. We are employer-led. Our Board consists of owners and managers of small businesses. We have a team of dedicated and technically competent staff with considerable experience of the business support environment. We focus on small businesses, concentrating on those with under 50 staff, including sole traders and micro businesses.
